WHERE I LIVE – JUNE 2018

This is the neighborhood where I live. I call it mid-Polk because it pretty much occupies the middle section of Polk Street. (Polk Street starts at Beach Street down by the bay and ends at Market.) The southern border starts at O'Farrell and Larkin

and the northern border ends at Polk and Jackson, a total of ten blocks.

Almost right in the middle of these ten blocks

is California Street, where the cable car line runs.

There's a lot I like about this neighborhood.

It has a nice mixture of old and new small businesses,

five used
clothing stores

three erotica stores

three donut shops

 some interesting architecture

and my personal favorite,

a trade school.

Besides all the above, there are bars regular and dive, gay and straight; restaurants, barbershops, nail salons, schools, auto repair, hardware drug and grocery stores, a cat veterinarian, a marijuana dispensary, cafes, art galleries, interesting side and parallel streets – just a nice neighborhood to live in.

But like all of San Francisco, it's changing.
