CALL FOR ARTISTS – DONUT-THEMED ART SHOW
Local neighbohood businesses Blick Art Materials on Van Ness and Bob's Donut Shop on Polk are sponsoring a
donut-themed art show.
Regarding the voting, I spoke with a Blick employee who said the voting would be done by the employees of Blick's Art Materials and Bob's Donut Shop.
The
last day for entries is June 30th.

SHAMELESS PLUG

I
know him mainly as the brother of the owner of a restaurant/bar I
frequent who sometimes serves me drinks.
What
I didn't know is that he is also a filmmaker whose movie 'Resistance
Is Life' was an offiicial selection of SF DocFest, among others.
Subtitled,
“How Could We Live Without a Homeland” , it tells the story of
Evlin, “an 8-year old girl who escaped with her family from their
village in Kobane, Syria in September 2014” fleeing from ISIS.
It
screens at the Roxie Theater this Sunday, June 11 at 9:30 p.m. And
again on Monday, June 12 at 7:15 p.m.

VAN NESS MAKEOVER
All
of Van Ness Avenue is currently torn up for the construction of
a light-rail transit line that will run down the median strip.
While the traffic delays caused during all this construction are hard to deal with, it does allow for a more unobstructed view
of the Zio Ziegler mural adorning the southern wall of the Calista Hotel.
