There
was an article recently in SFGate about OpenHistorySF and their large
collection of photographs of San Francisco through the years. (I'd include a link to the article, but I'm unable to find it on the SFGate website.) The
article included an interactive map where one
could see old photographs taken around one's neighborhood in the past. (click here for a link to OpenHistorySF: http://opensfhistory.org/
It gave me an idea to post old photos rom OpenHistorySF of my neighborhood and then to try and take a current photograph from the same angle as the one from OpenHistorySF.
I was going to call this series 'Then and Now', but David Curran at SFGate had the same idea and started a series with that tagline, so I'm calling mine 'Past and Present' instead.
The first installment is a photograph of Bush Street looking west from Hyde taken in 1920, and below that is a photo from roughly the same angle taken today, 2018.
