NEIGHBORHOOD OPENINGS – CROISSANTERIE/LE MARAIS BAKERY (#12 in a series)

A new bakery and bistro, Croissanterie, has opened at 1138 Sutter Street between Larkin andP Polk.

It is owned by Le Marais Bakery. According to their website:

"We are looking forward to the year ahead – for the past five         years, we have been creating hundreds of pastries every day out of 300 square feet, and finally we will be able to move into a commissary kitchen in the Polk Gulch neighborhood. We will open the commissary to customers in 2018, so you can come in and see how we make our croissants and pastries by hand every day."

The bistro is open from 9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m. daily while the bakery is open from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily.

UPCOMING EVENT – SFMTA OPEN HOUSE RE 27 BRYANT

Route and stop changes are in store for the 27 Bryant bus line. Anyone wishing to comment or learn more about these changes are invited to an SFMTA Open House on Saturday, November 10 at Boedekker Park Clubhouse at 246 Eddy from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

The fact that the open house is being held on a Saturday afternoon in a not-easily-accessible location says a lot about how the SFMTA feels about input from the public.

Fortunately, the riding public can also view the proposed changes to the 27 Bryant bus route online by clicking on the following link: https://www.sfmta.com/projects/27-bryant-transit-reliability-project

FREE EYE EXAM AND GLASSES TUESDAY

It's the first Tuesday of the month, and once again you can get a free eye exam and glasses

from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Paulus Lutheran Church

located at 1541 Polk Street.

I LOVE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

I love daylight savings time.

I love it because it means an extra hour of sleep.

An extra hour to rest, to recuperate from the stress and nonsense of daily life

'I can't take it anymore!'

with sleep.

Not everyone agrees with this, of course. This may be the last year for Daylight Savings Time and that extra hour of sleep if Proposition 7 passes. I vote an emphatic Yes! on Prop 7. We need more sleep and rest, not less.

Right now the extra hour of sleep ends on March 10, 2019 at 2:00 a.m. Until then,

happy zzzzzzzzzzz.

UPDATED NEIGHBORHOOD HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS 2018

No sooner do I post a blog bemoaning the dearth of Halloween decorations in my neighborhood than I get out and about in the late afternoon and come across not only an unexpectedly gentle Halloween mural at the corner of Geary and Larkin

but a decorated store across the street.

I also soon realize there were more decorations ion Polk Street than I thought.

Even a local church got into the spirit of things,

passing out candy to passersby.

Later this morning I hear from a friend at work about how there was a Halloween block festival around Polk and Green in Russian Hill.

So, it appears people were much more into the holiday spriti than I realized.

I really need to get out more.
