NEIGHBORHOOD OPENINGS 2015 – RANGOON RUBY,BLISS POPS (#10 in a series)

Rangoon Ruby, a white-tablecloth restaurant serving Burmese cuisine, has opened at 1608 Polk on the corner of Sacramento.

Also recently opened is Bliss Pops at 1475 California Street. 

Their grand opening is scheduled for this coming Saturday, May 2^nd , when all popsicles will be half-off. Otherwise, the cost is $3 a pop (sorry, couldn’t resist).

NEIGHBORHOOD OPENINGS – LAUNDRY LOCKER (#11 in a series)

Laundry Locker has opened their latest kiosk at 1339 Polk Street.

Normally, this is where I write ‘Welcome to the neighborhood!’ but not in this case. It’s too weird. 

Laundry Locker is a locker room where people drop off their laundry to be picked up, done elsewhere, and returned. Saying ‘Welcome to the neighborhood’ here is like saying it to a new street lamp.

So, Laundry Locker is now open 24/7/365 at 1339 Polk between Bush and Pine.

NEIGHBORHOOD OPENINGS – LIQUID GOLD, LUSH GELATO (#10 in a series)

LIQUID GOLD

opened at 1040 Hyde between California and Pine. It's a tap room serving 30 different craft beers in 12 oz. pours for a very reasonable $6 (in my opinion, anyway).

NEIGHBORHOOD OPENINGS 2014 (#5 in a series) – MARINE LAYER

Marine Layer, a clothing company out of Portland, OR, has opened up a store and workshop in the old Lumiere Theater complex at 1572 California Street between Polk and Larkin. 

This marks their 3rd store opening in San Francisco (the other two being in the Marina and Hayes Valley) and 6th overall. More about Marine Layer can be found on their website by clicking here: marinelayer.com

What was once the lobby has been converted into a small store

with the ticket booth serving as a display window.

The space where the three movie theaters used to be has been transformed into a workshop

where they design their clothing, all of which is made here at their factory located at Mission and South Van Ness.

This is the second store selling new clothing to open up in the neighborhood this year (the other being Smith at the northwest corner of Clay and Polk).

NEIGHBORHOOD OPENINGS #3 -- CITY PAWS

 Newly opened in the neighborhood is City Paws by For Paws Salon, located at 1112 Sutter between Larkin and Polk.

It's a dog and cat grooming salon that offers full service grooming, as well as a quick wash-and-blowdry for those times when you can't take that dog smell any longer.
