ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE MONEYED CLASS

MUNI stop, Polk and Van Ness

I saw this ad and wondered: "How does this play to people and families making way less than $100K a year?"

A number of buildings in my neighborhood have been repainted in the last several months.

NEIGHBORHOOD MURALS 2016 – TRANSPORTATION HUB (#1 in a series)

This mural, by the artist Dray, can be seen in Hemlock Alley at 1150 Polk. It was commissioned by the SF Arts Commission to honor the development of the cable car system and Friedel Klussman, who, in the 1940s, was instrumental in keeping the cable car system from being destroyed.

NEIGHBORHOOD MURALS – UNTITLED, OLIVE ALLEY (#22 in a series)

When I was photographing the peeling goddess mural on the south side of the O'Farrell Theater last month, I noticed another mural on the building next to it.

Fron the way its color has faded, I'd guess it was painted awhile ago. Most of the imagery is buddhist and Indian, except for the Mexican figure in the lower left-hand corner (oerhaps from a previous mural?)

I didn't see any artist signature, so I don't know who painted it.

VERIZON RADIATION DEVICE

Walking down Pine Street between Larkin and Polk the other day, I noticed a sign I had never seen before posted on a streetlamp.

'Verizon Radiation Device Mounted Above' it read,

framed at the top and bottom with that always-ominous radiation warning symbol.

I looked toward the top of the pole.

Sure enough, there was the Verizon Radiation Device, just as warned about.

Who knew?

HOLIDAY DECORATIONS AT THE HOTEL POTTER

I didn't get to publish these photos of the holiday decorations at the Hotel Potter at Mission & 9th street before year ended, so I'll just have to start the new year with a nod the one that just ended.
