UPCOMING EVENT – POLK STREET BLUES FESTIVAL

Polk Street will be having it's on-again off-again Blues Festival this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

It takes place between California and Post Streets and if past festivals are any indication, should be fun.

UPCOMING EVENTS – TWO-FOR-ONE TUESDAY

There are two free events happening on Tuesday, August 7.

The first is a free eye exam and eyeglasses event happening from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at St. Paulus Lutheran Church, 1541 Polk Street.

The second is a MUNI open house to discuss the 27 Bryant MUNI bus route. The open house will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., 

also at St. Paulus Lutheran Church.

VACATION TIME

The dog days of summer. Fogust. Summer doldrums. Whatever you call it, August has always seemed to me a good time to take a vacation, to rest, recuperate and recharge before September and the year starts picking up speed.

So, except for some upcoming local events this month, I won't be doing any more blogging until after Labor Day.

NEIGHBORHOOD CLOSINGS – RANGOON RUBY (#8 in a series)

The Rangoon Ruby restaurant at 1608 Polk Street has closed and moved to a new location.

This doesn't surprise me, as it never really seemed to catch on with people.

Hopefully it will do better in its new location as will it's sister restaurant, Ella's American Kitchen, opening soon.
